Hi Dave,
You just missed a fair yesterday at Southport but pickings were slim.
There is an Antiques fair on Sun 2nd at Rufford Village Hall which is about 15 mins out of Southport, it is a small affair and you would have to be lucky to find anything. There is a larger fair at Trafford Soccerdome on the same day but it is an hour or so out of Southport and I have not been before so cannot guarantee you finding anything.
There is an Antiques/Collectables arcade at Victoria Parade which is on Lord St. in Southport I have not been for some time but do remember the odd bit of Militaria
Not to helpful I'm afraid but hopefully someone else may know of something else
Paul

Hello Dave, There is a fair at Outwood near Wakefield on the 2nd but this would be a trek there. Open from 0830 to, I think about 1300ish. I find this is quite good for a smallish fair. It also has refreshments.
Post code WF1 2NE.
Cheers Jerry.

Good heavens, I have not been to Southport for so many years, I bet it's all changed since I was a boy, after reading this, I think I need to get back there, very fond memories of the place and I do remember the odd shop, but, I suppose they are long gone now.

Frank,
Not changed much since I was younger, a bit stuck in time and lack of investment. I think a few of the shops you remember have gone now.

I use to spend a fair bit of time in Southport many years ago and there were a number of junk and bric a brac shops around which are almost certainly no longer there now.

Two of the biggest mistakes in my collecting career were made in Southport. In one shop there was a Liverpool Scottish colour sergeants dress tunic which I didn't buy because the collar badges were missing.

In another shop there were about a dozen Liverpool College OTC large buttons and I bought one.

To this day I cannot understand why I didn't buy the tunic and all the OTC buttons.

I suppose we live and lean.

P.B.
