Curved WWI RAF sleeve eagle pair
I have a pair of what I assume are WWI RAF shoulder eagles, circa 1918. They have two posts and are affixed to a section of material by a backing plate which incorporates a section for the separate crown. The nuts are square with rounded corners. The eagles measure just over 2” in length and are solid (die cast?) construction, un-hallmarked with a gilded finish.
What is perhaps unusual is they appear to be cast to have quite a curved shape; about 5 mm at the middle. Has anyone observed these curved designs in the cast Eagles? All of the other Eagles in my collection are flat. Comments appreciated. |

I wonder if the owner bent them to make them look better? Fairly common practice with cap badge...you never know.

A good thought and rational explanation. I was afraid to try to bend them as I wasn't sure if it would snap the metal or not.
Best wishes to you. Wayne |
