Steve,
I may be miles off, my guess was based on the initials, one of which looks like a "P" and the coronet, Peter

Didn't Cavalry / RHA / RA sometimes have swagger sticks which were part riding crop? (To answer my own question - yes they did!)
Alternatively, is it actually a military swagger stick? If it's a civilian riding crop then the initial/coronet might be a family crest - it looks like a crest (ducal) coronet. Or a Hunt crest maybe? David Last edited by davidwyke; 25-09-16 at 06:03 PM. |

Looks like it could be Princess Pats. An Infantry Regt so why would it be at least part riding crop? WW1 Officers perhaps, unless they had their own Hunt.
David Or, less likely, it might be something to do with Princess Patricia's own household rather than the regt. Last edited by davidwyke; 25-09-16 at 06:15 PM. |

An infantry battalion would have had about 100 horses in 1914.

Most definitely PPCLI. It's the regimental cypher found in the center of the cap badge.

Here is the WWI crest, from the current PPCLI kit shop:
