Default Silver Glider Pilot Regiment cap badge; not in K&K?

I would like to show a recent purchase, a Firmin made example of the 1950 pattern Glider Pilot Regiment cap badge in silver. K&K shows the silverplate badge (known as silver frost pattern), but this is unlike it and made from a different die.
Could it be a private purchase badge?

These are my latest acquisitions - the 'silver frost' officer's version and other ranks cap badge, both maker marked by Firmin.

I am quite chuffed with these, as have had pairs of collar badges without matching cap badges; until now.

I did see your badge on sale and was quite tempted to enter the bidding myself, but decided not to, given I had just acquired these and had an eye on the bank balance.

Would be interesting to compare OR badge to yours. I will try to take better pics in daylight tomorrow.

It looks to be a quality badge in unmarked silver, I have not seen one like this before, I prefer it to the frosted examples. It was probably private purchase in my opinion as were most officers badges.

I would assume that all silver badges were private purchase.
