Default Bullion SEAC title

Unsure if I 've posted before but no harm I suppose.
A strange title. I believe it could be WW2 vintage.
What would be the significance of gold (or silver) wire embroidery on a pink ground?

Hi GTB,

A very nice officers bullion South East Asia Command should title. The 'pink' was likely red when made but faded with time?

Cheerio,

Roy

Thanks for reply.
Everything is possible and I had considered that eventuality but I don't think so. The pink looks 'natural'.

I think most (all?) of these were locally made, so if it was indeed pink to start with, I wonder if that was the closest to red the maker had?

Cheerio,

Roy

From my usual position of ignorance - the only SEAC flashes I have seen are white embroidered on blue straight strips - were they made on red?

For example and from my collection: arc shaped, bazaar made - red on black, gold wire on pink/red, gold wire on black, white on black, white on mid blue, Factory made, arc shaped black on khaki. Straight - machine embroidered in gold wire on black (or dark navy). There will be scores more variations out their - Mountbatten would have liked everyone serving East of Suez to wear them - all part of his "branding" policy. Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for that. I have owned a few over the years, mostly of the red or black type. Sounds like you have a splendid collection, any chance of a group photo to highlight some of these variations?

Cheerio,

Roy

Ah, so it was more a case of a "brand" in whatever colours suited the wearer in terms of his other insignia?

I think that's probably the case. For example I have an embroidered black SEAC on green title mounted below the title INTELLIGENCE CORPS. Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for sharing these, a great collection. Really nice to see not only the variety but also the combination of patches.

Cheerio,

Roy
