A Liverpool Hooligan !!!!!
I had a phone call this morning from a dealer I know asking if I might be interested in some items including a bronze Memorial Plaque to a Francis Hooligan, the seller knew nothing about the soldier which the plaque commemorated but a quick search on the Commonwealth War Graves site showed he was 12640 of 1st Battalion, Kings Liverpool Regiment who died on 17th May 1915.
Not quite a true scouser as he was born and lived in Widnes and had enlisted in Warrington. I was tempted and had he been a Territorial I would have been very tempted but sadly most of us cant buy all the items we would like for our collections. I hope it finds a good and appreciative home. It doesn't seem that long ago that you had to ask a researcher to find information which he would take weeks to find and which is now on line and takes minutes not weeks to locate . P.B.
