Default Royal Engineers OSD Gaunt mark

I don't know if this is common or not but I've never seen a separate two part Gaunt London mark before. Is this common?

I have a RA KC gilt badge with separate markings with lugs brazed over both, and a gilt Dutch lion on blades also with separate markings. The one on the right.

Rgds, Thomas.
