REME cap
A peaked cap of the REME in its box. If someone could explain to me why B. Sterling & Co from Merton Abbey has sent this cap to Alkit Ltd in London ?

Alkit were well known mens outfitters, hatters and tailors though how much they made in house and how much was bought in is not known to me. They were in business from some time after WWI and into the 1960's.

Is it possible to date the cap? Late 1950's, I think.

Can you give a clear image of the postage marks on the box, at all, please?

Obviously post 1953 and before early 1960's, so late 50's is probably as tight a date as you can get unless the postmark as suggested is readable.

Small point here, it's not a REME cap although it has a REME badge on it. It's official designation is , I believe, Caps , Royals and is worn by several regiments and corps.

Thank you for these precisions. Postmark is very clear but I can read a 5 following by a 3, a 8 or a 9.

The stamps don't help much as they were in issue 1952-68
