Default The sign that never was!

My failed attempt to design a half-way decent sign for HQ Land Command. The winning entry was the infamous "Technicolor snail" designed by the HQ Graphics Office and which fortunately was not worn on uniform. Mike

The snail has a continental look to it, Id've thought it French or Began perhaps.

You probably scared them Mike with your map of the world - politically incorrect visions of Empire might have sprung to mind when they saw it.

Sorry Mike, I don't want to be disparaging but at first glance it does look a little "Third reich"

I see what you mean! The predominance of red. white and black is visually a little disturbing. The red/black/red rectangle is in the historically sound colours for an Army pennant or brassard (formations signs for the First World War British Second Army and Third Army refer). The format of the globe was, I regret, cribbed from the formation sign for RE AER Movement Control units. I never saw any other submission. Mike

I was thinking more along the lines of someone liking the design but worrying that squaddie humour might christen the badge along the lines of "the pair of spherical objects.

Probably - but my version of the globe only included Western Australia - the remainder of Australasia seems to have fallen off the bottom! Mike

Mike - it looked like you had predicted the future any way ... lack of Alaska ... did you have a hunch about North Korea?
