Irish badges
I don't care for these 2 but would appreciate more feedback. They are not mine.

I would not buy them myself. If I was going to buy these badges then I would want a different construction type on the RDF, sharper definition, a better patina and sliders that were not such a modern design.

Des,
I do not like the Connaught Rangers badge. There is no voiding below the crown, there is no voiding beltween the harp strings and no reinforcing between the crown and the harp. Eddie |

Hello Des,
I don't like any of them, they don't look like any originals that I have ever seen and I would not buy them. Regards Frank |

Maybe you should get him to join the forum, otherwise "your friend" is going to be wasting even more money than he should do in learning about "good un's and bad un's". All I was taught as a lad by serving soldiers and more experienced collectors, was to look out for a nice sharp definition at the rear of the badge, was it well made, and would it "pass muster". Didn't stop me making mistakes, but I wouldn't have touched these based on the lack of definition at the back to start with - and as a general rule, it works out quite well.
Wish your friend luck. |
