Default welsh field park company RE orderly room abergaveny 1924

a pair of pc's to the same unit from 1924. Many of the same people are in both pics, but not all of them.

A fine looking lot. The pattern 22 SD jacket was certainly an improvement over the horrible fitting earlier one.
The photo on the left; note the sergeant sitting behind the sign with what appears to be an upside down riding instructors badge?

I have blown it up, possibly the ground observers O worn above the grenade above Sgts stripes?

Not sure if it was worn this way

Yes Andy, you’re correct, an RE farrier sergeant with the correct, corps arm badge of a GM grenade above stripes for all RE sergeants. This was adopted (ordered) in 1881 and replaced the previous practice of a crown arm badge that, rather like some cavalry regiments, had caused confusion for other arms that were unfamiliar.
