Default Durham Light Infantry Marksman

Can anyone explain the crossed rifles badge worn at the top of this DLI soldier's arm?

The uniform looks like the inter-war patrols, possibly in this case green.

All thoughts welcome.

Jon

Jon,

As you imply, that style of badge shouldnt be worn and certainly not in that position.

A look at the buttons makes me think they are not military at all and appear plain and domed, some crushed even.

I think it may be a photographers prop for recruits or even theatrical.

regards

The tunic seems to have the pre WW1 shoulder cords and not the correct epaulette. I would agree that it might be a 'dressing-up box' photo.
