I vaguely remember seeing a photo on a collectors facebook page or the US Militaria collectore forum. The tab is worn above the US 8th Army patch. 3 RAR were part of the British Commonwealth Division which was attached the the 8th Army durung the Koean war. I think the photo was of an Honor Guard formed from all the foreign troops that served as part of the eight Army when the war ended.

Thanks all
Yes I now it’s a US patch hence the spelling of Honor But I thought I’d read and also seen a pic of an Australian wearing this patch.
Now just need to find that pic
Thanks again

Thanks Marc
Great pic but not the one I’m thinking of.
From memory there were 3 soldiers, a Brit, a US and an Aussie. (Lol it sounds like the start of a joke) on guard in their respective national uniforms all with the patch on the left? shoulder.
Will keep searching

Default Honor Guard picture

Korean War - Honour Guard Patch Worn By Australians in the UN 1950's Honor Guard

The current United Nations Honor Guard in Korea carries on the tradition of the men who provided for the security of Gen. Douglas MacArthur during World War II, the Occupation of Japan, the Korean War and the officers who succeeded MacArthur in the Far East Command.

There is a standing UN honor guard in South Korea. I know of Canadians who were on an honor guard commemorating The Korean War and they wore that "rocker" on their DEU while on the guard. Probably about 2008-10.
