Royal Naval Association Query.

I have been doing some work on my collection of old comrades/sweetheart badges.

I have noticed that the Royal Naval Association badge comes with three different enamel backings, dark blue, light blue and a dark red, or even purple. Is there any reason for this, or is it just a manfacturers variation?

I have scanned the dark red badge and post it below. I have made it lighter in order to show detail more clearly.

The other two badges are not marked, but the red one was made by the firm of W O Lewis, of Birmingham.

Very many thanks for the information, and just in time for me to lable the badges before I put them away.

Is there any reason for a light blue (associate members) RNA badge being about half the size of the three that I have mentioned?

There is no makers marking on the reverse.

I honestly don't know. I have my grandfather's Life Member badge, 2.5 cm high.

Out of interest, here are the two sizes of badge. One silver and one gilt.

The larger one is one of the three mentioned above. They are all just over an inch high.

The smaller one is about half that.
