I'm going to suggest that the numeral '247' and possibly the disk are ID for police, railway or security guards rather than unit titles.

'DI' would mean 'Drill Instructor' in some armies but possibly not in Oz and 'Western Australia Training Corp/Cadre/Cadets' might match those? Offered in humble ignorance of Australian military nomenclature.

thanks peter
I think you are probably correct re the numeral '247' and possibly the disk are ID for police, railway or security guards?
as for the DI im thinking police, maybe Divisional Inspector?
WATC still throws me. it looks military but maybe police. I don't think we/they had a Training Corp/Cadre/Cadets? but who knows.
thanks for your thoughts

Default Womens Air Training Corps WW2

No doubt about it. Also winged badges for cap and lapel as per scans. One with a V for Victoria was sold on Ebay recently.
