Default City of London Yeomanry

Hello Chaps, this is a recent acquisition. Not a Yeomanry collector per se but tempted to dip my toe in the pond. This is the first example of this badge I have handled and compared with others pictured on the Forum detail seems to be lacking, lettering poorly defined etc.. There is evidence of polishing but is this from period wear or an attempt to artificially age? There is a crimp mark about 2mm down from the shoulder of the shank but not showing well in the image. Would appreciate any input from the Yeomanry Guru's.
Cheers!
Len

Hi Len
Hard to tell from your pictures, but I would say its ok imo.
I do not have one exactly to compare it with as the slidered one I have also has a backing plate, here is a picture
All the best

Default CLY

Hi Malc, cheers for that mate.
The lettering to the WM scroll as well as Rough Riders and S.Africa Battle Honour seem crisper and better arranged on your example as are details to the crown etc... Of concern on the example I have pictured - the lettering is less distinct and uneven with some letters placed higher than others. Regarding the backplate is this something that should be present on all badges to the CLY or were some made without.
Thanks again.
Len.
