Default The 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards - Cloak Clasp.

I just want to share this gorgeous item with you. It is an early SCOTS GUARDS cloak clasp, fire gilt finish, and I think a Waterloo period item.
Any additional information on this item would be most welcome.

Michael.

A very nice item indeed. And I agree with Andy, a very early design that corresponds with their SBPs and headdress badges of the period you suggest. Regards Jeff

Hello Ray,
Thank you for the thumbnail of the cap badge to The 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards.
To date it is the first photo I have seen of this badge. The only other reference I have come across is a drawing of a Band Shako Plate 1815 featured in the Journal of the Society for Historical Research vol. XXIX. I think it was on The British Empire site.
Michael

Default Officers shako plate

Hi all
Sorry to come back so late, but I had to "dig deep" to find this one :
From a photo taken in April 1990 at the SUSM ; An Officers Scots Guards shako plate dated circa 1820-28. Similar to Ray's example but with a gilt centre and green glazed backing. Guards badges for this period are quite distinctive and exceedingly rare. Regards Jeff

Hello Jeff & Ray,
Thanks for taking the the time and effort to post a photo of the officer's badge Jeff, It is absolutely stunning. Being new to the Forum, I do not know what "SUSM" means, although I am sure someone will inform me. Ray was the badge you posted in white metal.
Cheers!
Michael

Sorry about that ... I'm not usually a "jargon" person :
SUSM is the Scottish United Services Museum at Edinburgh Castle. I don't know if it is still there*, or it may have changed its name (like they do sometimes) or indeed it may have "dumbed down" like a lot of museums have done ... so I can't guarantee that the displays are still there ! Anyway, you are welcome to this photo for what its worth. Regards. Jeff

*NB: The Castle is still there .. I mean the museum. LOL
