Owners initials on sword blade
I was shown a nice sword to the 7th Kings Liverpools this morning. I cannot make out the owners initials on the blade but members here have been successful in sorting out entwined initials in the past.
Pictures attached and any help appreciated. Thanks P.B.

Is there a 'C' in there somewhere at the start? - looking like a backward facing 'D' - A very arty font - difficult to decypher for sure.
Are there four initials in there? |

Thanks Mike,
It certainly takes some decyphering, I like the sword I have which has " James Maxwell Esq." on the blade, no question of who it belonged to. Peter

Peter
Is the photo upside down? When reversed it looks like JSD. More info / pictures of the sword might help date it...model, maker etc., then Harts Army List for an approximate period might reveal the identity. I've been lucky in the past. Regards, Kevin. |

That would explain the backward facing 'D' ... never ocurred to me it was upside down / back to front. Certainly looks beter that way ;-)

Thanks all,
The sword is point upwards so the initials are the right way up.The cypher on the blade and cartouche is Edward 7th and I an afraid I cannot remember the name of the maker ( or more probably the retailer ) P.B.
