Default VI COMMANDO

Would this sadly cropped item have started life as a white on black rectangular title VI COMMANDO? Image is the well-known photo of a GI amputee on arrival at Staten Island NY - from National Geographic. Mike

I wouldn't have thought so Mike, as I understand it they're quite distinctive in their manufacture (not mass produced):

Agreed. It's identical, but has been quite cleverly distressed. I'll take it up with the dealer from whom it came.
