Bullion Epaulets for I.D. help
I have acquired a pair of these epaulets, but unfortunately, I do not know much above them.

Victorian Volunteers shoulder cords for a Captains full dress uniform, It may not be possible to identify the actual unit as that pattern of button was used by a number of Rifle Volunteers/ Volunteer Battalions.
P.B. ( Very nice )

Hello Freddy
The button looks similar to those used by the Tower Hamlets Rifle Volunteers - QVC, over a bugle horn within a wreath of oak leaves. Problem is I'm not so sure that the wreath on your button is of oak, it looks more like laurel to me but that just might be a maker's variation. The King's Royal Rifle Corps used a similar design of button with a wreath of laurel. Your button is obviously silver, so it would have to be for a volunteer battalion which is where, presumably, the silver 'V' comes in. I'm probably way off the mark but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me on the subject of epaulets and, possibly, the KRRC will be able to provide more information. Roger |

I have two, but one is incomplete. Epaulet
Of the two epaulets I have, see photos in previous post.
One is missing that button, or at least the most important part, the top silver part. The button is Victorian, 16mm diameter, and only officers had the one with the wreath. Can any one offer any suggestions as to where I may acquire another button, or same pair. Freddy |
