Default crippled eagles

The "Crippled Eagles" was a name taken by a group of US expats who fought ( and 7 died) for the Rhodesian Security Forces during the Bush War. The badge was designed by author, Robin Moore . It seems that upward of 300 US citizens volunteered to fight in the Rhodesian forces. They were not treated any differently to the other servicemen and could not be considered to be mercenaries, simply men who believed strongly enough in a cause to risk their lives on its behalf. They served in various units , 5 in the Selous Scouts.
So, I was pleased to find this lapel badge amongst the effects of a journalist who had operated in the bush war. I'm not sure what other momentos there are of this association of soldiers, if any. The lapel badge was made by the Milford Mint ( in the USA I assume) in pewter. The emblem is nor particularly deeply struck and is quite difficult to make out from any distance.
Does anybody know anything else about the crippled eagles and did they have any other insignia ?
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike, a very nice find. Didn't quite a few of these Americans move to SA 44 Para after Rhodesia collapsed? These small groups of guys always make an interesting topic. Regards Andrew
