Bomber crest badge... hand painted.
Someone offered to sell this badge,
And although I find it "sexy"... I was wondering if it's Canadian or something else... I gave Google a spin with no success... Can anyone help me here? Thanks! |

My guess is an American crest for a flight jacket

The USAF issued round leather laches about 5" in diameter for wear on A1 @ A2 flight jackets. Some were painted others printed. Don't recognise this one.

Patrick,
For the squadron number, you might try "273" (2 stars at 9 o'clock on the patch, 7 stars at 12 o'clock and 3 stars at 3 o'clock). Just a thought. Ian

Good thinking Ian. At least a way to proceed.

Ian has pointed out something collectors should keep in mind. The insignia we collect has meaning, sometimes obvious other times symbolic or even hidden. Understanding the badges, their provenance and symbolism is a great part of the hobby. How many times have we held a badge or patch in our hand and ignored the design? Part of the fascination of collecting is understanding the meaning the soldiers, sailors and airmen (and women) attached to their badges.

Sorry I didn't read the replies earlier... I saw the stars and tries the numbers... forward and backward... no success.
The seller went silent on me.... So I'll keep the image as a souvenir! |
