Default 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards

Hello,
I'm looking for information about the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards.
Does anyone have a Slip-On title of the unit?
I'd like to see it looks like. I can't find one on the internet.
Best Regards.
Fred

Are you looking for the embroidered black on khaki slip-on reading 4/7 DG - of the Second World War period? Mike

Listed in the Catalogue of Clothing and Necessaries 1949 under: Titles Embroidered or Printed - CB 1063 4th/7th D.G.

However, the extensive list covers more than 185 titles and includes some obscure and war-raised and disbanded Regiments and Units. This was the first post-war catalogue and carries forward many items of pre-war origin.

If the 4/7DG black on khaki title existed and was issued in 1939/1940 it would have been in small numbers and is now rare for a number of reasons for example.

4/7DG was a mechanised (1938) cavalry regiment of only around 400 men and deployed with the BEF in 1939 as the Recce Regt of 2 Infantry Division equipped with Vickers light tanks.

The black on khaki slip on titles were introduced for security reasons as the intention was that insignia on Battle Dress was to be minimal.

The cavalry may have preferred to wear their brass shoulder titles and/or discarded their slip on titles during the Battle for France and Dunkirk evacuation.

Just a few ideas to explain rarity!

Tim

Is this what you are after?

Whilst these titles exist for all cavalry regiments there is little evidence they wear worn as the cavalry always preferred metal titles, regardless of what officialdom said. They are rare as a result.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED !
I do have photographs taken during the Battle of Normandy showing 4/7th RDG soldiers wearing both Brass and shoulder slips on.
