Default WW1 British Collar Badges

Hello, I am trying to identify the collar badges on this uniform. Could someone possibly steer me in the right direction. I am led to believe it is British circa WW1.

thanks
marc

They look like well polished Army Service Corps to me.

A few years before WW1. The shoulder braid was phased out in the previous decade and the red tunic withdrawn in 1914.

Steve is spot on, well polished Army Service Corps collar badges on a dark blue tunic with white collar. There is an unworn tunic in the waggoners badge book dated 1914.

Rgds, Thomas.

Hi Lads, I need to be sure about this... I just don't think it is an ASC collar (but i am happy to stand corrected). I have attached a pic of a WW1 era ASC collar and although similar there are some distinct differences... what do you guys think ?

Cheers
Marc

I have also noticed the button in my photo appear to be that of the "Coat of Arms" whereas the buttons would probably have been Representative of the actual RASC badge but again I could be wrong...

Cheers, Marc

The coat of arms button is generic across the Army and is correct for an OR's tunic of the period. The white facing colouring of the collar is quite distinctive to the ASC and the badge is the same shape. That combination make sit very unlikely to be anything else than ASC.

The tunic you show with ASc buttons has the gold braid showing that it is not a private's jacket but a higher rank: hence the regtl buttons on this tunic but not on the one in your photo.

Definitely ASC compare the original picture then look at the right hand collar badge as viewed on the jacket in post 10. The shadow of the laurel leaves is near identical to the original picture.
