Default RTR Cloth Beret (?) Badge

Can anyone provide chapter and verse on this cloth badge? Is it an issue item and if so when, where and by whom worn?

All information appreciated.

Looks like an early 90s beret badge?

I understood that it was a beret badge for RTR sponsored Army Cadet Force Detachments.

As they wear black berets (they certainly do in the Dorset detachments) I would expect the backing to be black as well.

RHQ RTR tell me that 3rd RTR adopted it for its Northern Ireland tour in 1990/1991.

Jon,
Is that the black background or blue background version, or both. Any comment from RHQ RTR on ACF use?

Tim,

The one I asked about was the black backed version in the original post. Although I mentioned possible ACF use they did not comment.
