Default Ball button datable?

Good afternoon

Very little to go on but can this plain ball button be dated by manufacturing technique or style? It's brass with a septate back and copper lug attached to the back. There is no backstamp unfortunately. The long shank suggests a fastening button for a tunic.

Shot in the dark - a button worn by British Hussar & Yeomanry regiments who wore "plain" buttons, the long shank designed to pass through frogging on the jacket.

Any ideas on probable date? I know it's difficult but I'd there a way of narrowing this down?

I would say 1850 to 1950 give or take a decade or so!

This style of plain brass hussar-type ball button has been in use for years.

Many thanks Roger. I thought that it may have been current for quite some time but just thought that I'd check on the manufacturing technique as to whether that changed over time. Obviously it didn't.

Regards
