Belgian or British made SAS cap badge?
Dear All,
The Belgian SAS was trained in 1946-47 in the UK and Belgium (see pictures). Could the SAS-badge be a British made SAS cap badge? And still a WWII-version? Thanks for advise. Wkr, Peter |

British made but fairly modern, worn 70's/80's/90's. Could also have been worn by NZ SAS.

hello Jack,
That would make sense because the badge was placed on a beret dated 1979. Initially, I thought that he placed his original service badge on a new beret. A picture of the rear. Wkr, Peter |

As Jack said, 70's-90's and because of the missing red line below the crossguard possibly NZ issue type.

The Belgians wore this pattern beret badge in ww2. The French also wore this pattern in ww2 on the maroon beret.

Thank you all for your interesting info.
Conclusion, not his original badge but a replacement of the late '70-'80's. If one of you is interested in the badge, just let me know. Wkr, Peter |

Gentleman in the original photo
Hi Peter et al,
Just clearing out my study, and found a USB with some scans of documents I loaned a museum to scan into their archives. I have just done a check on the name of the soldier who is mentioned on his Brevet award certificate (duplicate) and it appears to be the same chap!! Does anyone have any more information on the guy at all please? Oh I cannot remember where i obtained these as they are Belgium SAS/AB and not British? Will be open for trade for British SAS if anyone is interested. Just PM/Email me.
