Default Welsh regiments WW1

Hi guys

I don't have access to my books, and google is not on my side this evening. I was hoping someone could tell me how many Welsh regiments were represented in the Line Infantry in WW1? And also their respective seniority (precedence?)

Off the top of my head I can think of SWB, ROYAL BERKSHIRE, THE WELSH, WELSH FUSILIERS, LEINSTER. Who am I missing?

Thanks

Colin

Default WW1 WELSH REGIMENTS

Hi Colin, the seniority is the ROYAL WELSH FUSILIERS, the SOUTH WALES BORDERERS, the WELSH REGIMENT. to my knowledge the ROYAL BERKSHIRE and the LEINSTERS are not welsh regiments. regards john

The ORBAT is here.

You'll also find this list of interest as some of these regiments had up to 20 battalions in the New Kitchener Army.

Hi Jerry. Great badges!
The SWB, RWF and WELSH are economy strikes, yes?

Wasn't the Monmouthshire a Territorial Regiment, and not considered a Line Infantry regiment as such?

Cheers

Colin

What's wrong with Wales? Seems a grand place to me. Though 17 consonants in a row makes place names a trifle hard for outsiders to pronounce .

But rest assured, the Royal Berkshire is
now firmly placed in my England frame.

Colin,
Perhaps it was the dragon that confused the issue! Berkshire is not in China either, lol! And just in case, East Kent is probably nearer Paris than Cardiff so thats another Dragon on a non Welsh badge

My mistake Colin, though they were infantry and served in the line.

Yes they are economy issues.
