I went to Waterloo battlefield last year to avoid the rush, but it was still very busy. There was a lot of renovation work going especially at Hougoumont to take it back to it's 1815 layout. It was a brilliant trip and to stand on the battlefield was quite a moving experience.

It's as I was saying here the other day. As time goes by, the importance of many wars, battles and events, assume far less importance than they had during the lifetimes of the participants and their immediate families. I actually named Waterloo as on of the battles which few people from the masses know or care about these days, even though it probably saved us from invasion.
