I wonder if regular reorganisation post ABW may be to blame for the lack of badges?

It seems some former OVR members were in the post-1913 5th DMR (2nd Southern Rifles). Some may also have joined the SMR.

CP Nel was a buglar with OVR, later a Lt in the 5th DMR and eventually an Honorary Colonel of the Oudtshoorn Commando.

I've recently obtained some photogrpahs of the 5th DMR on parade. They appear to be wearing the pre-WW1 ACF Drab uniform with dark green facings but no cap badges to be seen!
