Default Victorian South Wales Borderers Helmet Plate Post 1881 home service helmet?

Hi All, I think both the back plate & the centre are FAKE but do you think that I'm right or wrong?

Thanks, Mick

Hi Simon, I believe that this backplate is a modern reproduction & the centre is a: copy / fake of this genuine one here:

I also think the price on this (HPC) is very fair.

Thanks, Mick

I have this example which I believe is genuine. It has had a hard life and been nailed or screwed to something! The centre has 3 loops but the loops have been removed from the plate which has two holes East-West. Note the small tubular fittings behind the crown.

Hi Tim, I also think your one is Genuine, But as you have said it's had a hard life!
Both your HPC & Outer are quite different to the one in my first post.

But thanks for posting anyway. Mick
