Default 250th CEF!!

Here is a recent addition to my CEF collection. A tough one to get! This particular configuration is not listed in Charlton - in addition to the "250" and the shield (as noted in Charlton) the crown and the "Canada" banner are also overlaid with white metal or silver, not sure which.

Note the two holes in the back - not sweat holes I guess as the one behind the "250" does not touch the number. Interesting also to see this badge in Cox - his is actually one with the overlay missing and the holes are clearly visible!

This was one of the dream e-bay deals!

Cheers, Ian.

I take it the remnants of the maker's mark are Dingwall, Winnipeg? Those holes look to me like they were intended as the original overlay's post holes, but the actual overlay was made with them shifted in position & the base piece re-drilled.

Hi David,
That's right, Dingwall, Winnipeg with most of the middle letters not showing. Makes sense that the holes may have been intended for a different overlay.
Cheers, Ian.

Would you be willing to have your badge image included in the CEF Gallery??? If so please send me the original (non-compressed image) I'll do an edit and get it posted. You will get a copy of the "GIF" file and of course be credited as the image owner.
