Default RNAS Observer metal wing

This metal, die cast wing was worn by RNAS Observers. According to Warren Carroll, it was issued in June 1917. This version is in gilded metal but the wing is reported to exist in bronze and copper variants. The "O" reflects differently in this scan but is in reality, the same gold colour as the wings. The reverse shows the two threaded posts and solid construction. Width is 2 1/4" (55 mm). I believe the wing was supposed to be worn on the sleeve but photos exist of it above the medal bar on the left breast
