Default MIDDLESEX REGIMENT BADGE BACKING

I have seen a bi-metal Middlesex Regiment cap badge with what appears to be a slighter longer slider. It is mounted on a plain yellow triangle backing. Can any Forum member give an opinion on what this might indicate? I have seen a diamond shaped backings in yellow and maroon with this type of badge, but not plain yellow.

Any help will be gratefully received.

Kind regards, Malcolm.

The longer slider suggests that it was worn on the side of the FSH (Foreign Serice Helmet) in India, Egypt etc. Most badges of this type had a backing. In this instance I would suggest a particular battalion of that Regiment.
Have a look at Alan O's album of FSH badges which also includes a lot of contemporary photographs.

Hello Malcolm
As stated by KLR worn on the FSH, I’ve a picture of one on the helmet and although in black and white the dimond backing is in an off white colour so suggest’s the yellow ( not the normal diagonal of maroon & yellow) I’ll try to get an image up later if I’ve chance,? Why the plain yellow backing I’m still on the hunt for the answer myself
