Can anyone provide an image of Colonel Oswald Fitzgerald, please?

For those not familiar with the name, Fitzgerald was a close friend, companion and personal military secretary to Kitchener, and who perished alongside the Field Marshall, aboard HMS Hampshire, on that fateful June day in 1916.

With thanks,

JT

Thanks, Jerry.

All of the searches I have conducted have not turned up images of the man himself. It's this newfangled internet thingy... it'll never catch on!

Are you able possibly to attach a link which will lead me to a positive result, please?

With thanks,

JT.

Jerry,

Again, thank you, but I am embarrassed to admit that I have no idea which image is Fitzgerald? When I click on the link I am presented with a number of pictures, none of which I am able clearly to single out as the man in question (cringe ).

I know it's me... don't give up on me just yet

I had the same problem - Fitzgerald is not identified in person in the images I got through Google. My guess is he could be one of the officers in the background accompanying Kitchener here (if he died in the same incident) ... but no idea which one.

The officer to the left with his hand in pocket is a possibility . Two men in dark clothing-Navy? man at front in sou'wester- seaman? Man behind officer hand in pocket-aide ??

Many thanks. Rifling through the regiment is a decent idea. I'll persevere and let you know how I get on.

He's proving to be a tad elusive

Thanks again, blokes.

How did you get on with this? Did you manage to single him out?

Thought I would keep searching - he certainly is elusive but found these references

oswald fitzgerald bengal lancers

https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=...ancers&f=false

https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=...ancers&f=false - 25 years younger than Kitchener?

http://business.truebreakingnews.com...ord-kitchener/ - includes image of boarding HMS Hampshire with further officers

Sorry ... nothing specific but hope this helps

Mike
