Default Metal Australian Army Aviation Brevets

Hi there

I was wondering when metal brevets (wings) were introduced in the Australian Army? I started collecting in 1988 and they certainly had them then. Would they go back to the 1970's? Since the AAAvn commenced on 1 July 1968 I would presume nothing much would have happened on metal wings until at least the mid-70's.

Kind regards

Doug

I thought they came into being in the 1970s.

I think the army pilots wings may also have been in the late 1960s.

Would that be the metal ones Mick or just cloth brevets?

Both I suspect. I think they were even worn before the AAAvn officially became a corps.

I think the other brevets came in the 1970s (except for the 'A' Aircrewmen which only came in a few years ago).

Thanks Mick

Do you have any info on a previous post of mine on the early metal PJI wing without crown? I would like to know who produced it. There is no maker's mark on the back of the wing and is solid - not a pressed wing. Would have been made in the early to mid 1950s.

Kind regards

Doug

No mate - got no info on that one I'm afraid. Do the reference books "Australian Airborne" or "Anzac Elite" have any info about it?
