Default Black Devon & Dorset A/A

Hello all...just came back from a fair and I bought a Devon and Dorst A/A cap badge, by J.R Gaunt B'ham.....the badge has the front painted black only.....is that OK for service in NI ?

The D&D wore black badges in NI. However in the late 80s they wore black badges as normal wear on berets in UK.

The battalion were in Bulford in 1989 and they all wore black painted badges on their berets.

You can find black painted and factory black versions of the D and D cap badge.
The one factory version is slightly smalier with a thinner slider than you normally find.

Well,my badge is 38.5 mm high by 37 mm wide.Thickness is 3.5 mm and the slider is 9 mm....only the front is painted flat-black, hand painted I should say as the paint looks like the one used for scale models. Finally the MM is J.R.GAUNT B'HAM

Hoping this will help.
