Is it a collar for the King's?

A drawing of 1895 at the National Archives suggests it is a FSC badge for either the 4th or 6th VBs KLR

There are two entries; I do not intend to reproduce NA images but the 4/VB is in WO 359/21, 84 which is annotated as ‘approved’ by HG WO and dated 12.02.1895.
The 6VB drawing you have is far better / less crude than the 4VB which is WO 359/21, 86 marked ‘approved’ by HG WO and dated 06.04.95. I suspect that they were probably meant to be the same badge - but perhaps sketched by two clerks - one of better artistry than the other. As far as the 6VB goes, we know that there was a 'cap badge' ie with scroll that must have been copied from the regular version with scroll below which was sealed in 7th January 1896. There is a lot more that can be said actually, as there is a ton of information which is too complicated to go into at this time of night !! J |

Is it unmarked silver? Looks 3rd Hussars small NCO Arm... possibly? It looks a dead ringer for the one pictured below #17

The late Harry Usher had an example in his Kings Liverpool collection. Number 13 in the attached pictures.
I have a copy of the key to the badges but it is not helpful. P.B.

Alan,
Is your badge of very light metal ? I had something similar many years ago which I stupidly let go as I was not convinced at the time that it was a Kings item. It was made of very light and pliable metal. Peter

Peter,
It was in an auction and as it was outside my sphere of collecting I did not go after it. Alan |

Have you ever seen one facing to the right?

Hello Griff,
No. I think ( for a number of reasons ) that I might have owned the badge in the photo of Harry Ushers collection but it was about 30 years ago and before I acquired the picture of the collection. Goes to confirm once again you should never let an item go until you are 200% certain you know what it is ( or what it isnt ) and even then give it further consideration before you dispose it. Peter

Just looking at Tim's [grey_green_acorn] albums and he has this for the 6th VB The King's (Liverpool Regiment) FS Cap c1895. A little different to the above.
