St Edmunds School CCF; Solid??
Hi Guys,
Picked this up over the weekend, not my area so upfront it'll probably go for sale/swap (On here...) once I work out if its right or not. It's a St. Edmunds School CCF badge, however unlike the other examples I've seen (I was set in Canterbury for a while and all the ones I saw were hollow), it is a solid back and has a very "Chocolate Coin" gold look about it. Anyone any ideas of when (If?) it was worn? I would think officers? as it certainly has some weight to it. Apologies if the photos are rotated, but they're the right way up on my computer..... Best, Tom

Tom,
I have seen a number of badges produced in this anodised bi-metal finish. Some are obvious fakes as they represent much older Regular designs. However don't throw it away yet as in the case of schools its possible that there cheap nature is because the schools bought their own badges. A/A badges were expensive so some CCF badges were made in other materials. provenance is everything so I would see if the school has an old boys site and ask them about that the CCF wore in the 1960s. Thanks guys, certainly does seem to be very heavy, but well made so I think you're probably right, hadn't thought of schools purchasing this stuff privately. I'll have a dig on FB as it may be i'll find it on an obn group. Best, Thomas

I don't have provenance for it, and it may be a fake, but Stamford School CCF cap badge has also been produced in this finish.
