Any clues in this photo
Hi All,
I'm trying to find out which regiment this relative served in, I believe his name is Robert Tye Hutchinson Beasley born in Dunston near Gateshead but can't find any records to confirm 100% who he was with. I'm thinking that might be an NF shoulder title, does anyone have any opinion on that or is there any other clues on the photo that might help? Thanks, Michael |

The shoulder title, possibly "NF", Northumberland Fusiliers.
But you've already noted that. |

Thanks Leigh, a second opinion always helps though.
I have been pointed towards an MIC for a Robert Beasley who was Northumberland Fusiliers / Labour Corps, I'm starting to think it may be him. Michael |

I'm by no means sure on that shoulder title.

Thanks for the help everyone.
If it is a VI or V does that suggest any particular regiment to anyone? There are a few MIC's on Ancestry for Robert Beasley's but that one was my best guess for him. Gerard I'm no expert but I believe at the start of WW1 they just had the letters NF then it changed to the grenade in between the letters and then the Royal in the scroll below it in WW2. Thanks, Michael |

First opinion was 'NF' with down stroke on the 'N' obscured by a fold in the epaulette - I still think this may be the case.
Dunston in Gateshead also a probable recruiting area for NF I would have thought Excuse my ignorance but what is MIC? All the best Mike Got it - Medal Index Card - I believe Last edited by Mike B; 25-07-17 at 06:41 AM. Reason: Realisation! |
