CEF general service badges
new to looking at Canadian badges
saw a photo in a friends house in NZ a few days ago and the chap was wearing maple leaf collar badges with CANADA on them Told him it was a Canadian soldier and given it was a family member he was most surprised how he ended up in Canadian uniform. My question: there seem to many variants of the CEF WW1 general service maple leaf badge - has anyone some reference of the different types/variants - has there been a posting on this issue I cannot find anyone got some images I can see of different variations This has become a sudden and pressing need for increased knowledge..........any help much appreciated cheers WAYNE IHAKAt |

Welcome to the world of Cdn General List badges Wayne. The threads Jo linked should help you wade through the story. It was a ubiquitous badge, issed from before 1900 (qvc) through the early 1950's. Many different makers and many different uses. For most CEF soldiers, this was their first cap badge.
