For some reason I am unable to access your album with the photo of the button - didn't have a problem with the previous albums.

Yes, I see where you're coming from Alan. The castle, shield with falchions and surrounding oak leaf wreath are all on their (officer's) cap badge I've found on line. I'll be pleased if it is

I have found the button by accessing your previous posts!

Sorry not cyclists but the Essex Regiment, pre 1902 before they adopted the more familiar 'eagle' button.
