Royal Lancashire Rifles buttons
I am pleased to have obtained (today ) a large button the 2nd Royal Lancashire Militia (later the 3rd and 4th Battalions, Kings Liverpool Regiment) to go with the small button which I have had for some time.
The unit became Rifles in 1854 hence the title on the button.According to "English Infantry Militia Buttons 1757- 1881" by Ripley and Darmanin, there is also an example with the mis spelt ROYAL LANCASTERSHIRE RIFLES which is on my wants list. P.B.

Hello Peter
Nice find and thanks for posting. Interesting spelling variation you are looking for. I hope you find it but it may be rather more difficult to get hold of! You will need eagle eyes when looking though buttons in future. Roger |

Thanks Roger,
It has taken some considerable time to find an example of the large correct design so the mis spelt example is something I shall probably never find but as you suggest always worth checking any other examples I come across. Peter

Peter,
assuming the badge you show is a PBP, the officer in the picture appears to have a star shaped PBP. Is that another version or artistic licence? regards

He may well be wearing the badge in the attached photo. Peter

Peter,
Yes thats definately it. They certainly had some cracking badges over the years inc. the green and red enamel HP that is like the PBP you have shown. regards
