2nd Battalion KOYLI Burma-India
A rather tatty photograph of members of the 2nd battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry taken in either Burma or India. I have not seen the black? pom poms that they seem to have attached to their sun helmets before. Can anyone please tell me what they signify?

I know very little about KOYLI and their pom POM's, but I've seen reference to them wearing white rather than black.
Green pom poms? Last edited by leigh kitchen; 19-03-17 at 08:25 PM. |

They may well be green but the ones being worn in the photograph are clearly not white. Are pom poms on sun hats a light infantry distinction as the whole concept is a new one on me?

I think it was specific to KOYLI, but we'll have to wait till someone who knows what they're talking about comes along.
There's mention of the KYLI pom pom here, in post 17, but the colour isn't mentioned: http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...t=10881&page=2 Last edited by leigh kitchen; 19-03-17 at 11:11 PM. Reason: Added link. |
