bc,
I doubt it is an Australian SAS beret. I joined the regiment in 1968, and we never wore the cloth badge, and to the best of my knowledge the regiment still doesn't. The only person I know of wearing a beret like the one shown was our squadron commander, who purchased a Christies beret. I can't recall if he wore the cloth badge, or the AA badge, but it was very faded, almost yellowy in colour. Cheers Chris |

Happy to help bc.
The original beret we wore was made by the Commonwealth Government Clothing Factory. It was a sort of sandy - light brownish colour with a cloth headband. In the mid-1970's we switched to the British beret of the greyish fawn colour with black leather headband. Looking at mine they were made by Hobson and Sons (London). Always worn with the AA badge. Regards Chris |

Probably from an exchange - either an SASR had been to 22 Regt or vice versa
