Tripolitania Police ID card
Having purchased a Tripolitania Police cap badge last month the dealer promised to bring the former owner's "Certificate of Appointment" for the same force which I duly picked up today. I also got a pile of photographs to showing the same Mr Stark in his service in the Tripolitania Police and the British South Africa Police (included were 5 very worn buttons).
He served in the Black Watch during the First World War, the BSAP between the wars, possibly Palestine Police then Tripolitania Police (I need to clarify this when I see the dealer next). The lot originally consisted of his medals, BSAP cap badge, 1 collar and 5 buttons, Tripolitania Police Appointment Card, cap badge and 1 collar, and 30-50 photographs. A pity it was broken up but apparently the buyer of the medals didn't want the badges or paperwork. When I have time I'll scan the photos into an album for the enjoyment of all. Hi 1314
Thank you for these snippets, much appreciated. Another Forum member sent me a copy of Inspector Stark's obituary, but this is all grist to the mill. I did make a start scanning the photos mentioned above but that has gone on the back burner for now, I'll let you know when I put them in an album. All the best Graham

Tripolitania Police - Stark
The change in his regimental number is simply that he completed a tour of duty, went on leave arriving UK by sea in October 1922,obviously looked around for another position, probably found one and resigned from the Force. This career change fell through and he Re-Joined in April 1923,and therefore being allocated a different (later) number. In Sept 1932 he returned to UK as a " Sergeant,BSAP ",in both cases he gave Edinburgh addresses.I cannot locate any further references to him on the travel front and assume he,like so many others, retired to Rhodesia.
