Default SAMC collar

Recently acquired a SAMC bi-metal collar.

I have never come across a bi-metal badge SAMC badge. Would appreciate anyone providing some insight?

Shahl,
I have one exactly the same. These were WWI officers private purchase, worn as collars along with Springbok Expeditionary force cap badge.
The bi-metal was reminiscent of the RAMC officers badge of same period.

I have seen photographs of SAMC officers wearing small bi-metal collars during WWI on service dress uniform.
