Default Volunteer RA and RE Badges

These came along with the Infantry VB Badges shown in that forum. The RE V has at one time had a sweetheart pin added then removed thankfully they left the original lugs!

regards

Mark

KLR,

As an officer he wouldnt have worn a metal cap badge in 1901.

In 1902 he would have worn the standard style RA gun badge with VOLUNTEERS on the top scroll.

Available in Silver, silver plate and bronze.

regards

Thanks Simon,
Looking through the photographs i have of him - I think they illustrate your point !
The first (mounted) is undated but probably c 1901, wearing a ?bullion grenade.
The second is dated 1905 and he is wearing a ?silver badge whereas the officer below is wearing an OSD badge.

Julian,

Lovely photos

The first probably dates to c. 1901 as you suspect, as he has no rank badges on his uniform, which, as a 2nd Lt. was correct upto about May 1902 when they were changed to wear one pip.

The silver bullion grenade without scroll worn on the FS Cap is typical of RGA (Volunteer) officers.

regards
