P.A. stands for Póilíní Airm (Irish for Military Police)

thus "4 P A "

Worn on right upper sleeve in Service dress no 1. by all ranks.

This dates from 1970's to 2005, was based at Custume Barracks, Athlone.

Has been disbanded.
