Default Latest Find - 1st VR (Shropshire) Waist Belt Clasp

Hi Gents,

Just wanted to share my latest find that I'm rather excited about. A 1st Battalion Shropshire Rifle Volunteers waist-belt clasp. Neve seen one before, so presume that are rather scarce.

Cheers, Roy.

Thanks Stephen,

It's a little 'rubbed' to the high points but as I have never seen one before, though it best to grab it. At least both parts are numbered to one another too.

Very pleased and a nice little addition to my small early Shropshire collection.

Cheers, Roy.

Roy,

Quite an Attractive Piece. Of what time frame would this have been in use?

Congrats
Jack

Hi Jack,

Thanks for that. The Shropshire Rifle Volunteers were active from around 1860 to 1880 as I recall but the two 'Administrative Battalions' were renamed the 1st & 2nd Shropshire Rifle Volunteer Corps. This was changed yet again in 1888 as they became attached to the new KSLI.

So in summation I feel this buckle would date from 1880 to 1888, assuming I have all my dates right..

Cheers, Roy.
